Growing up in the pine trees of East Texas, Vernon learned at an early age the importance of hard work, dedication, and above all having a relationship with Christ. After graduating high school he enrolled in Texas A&M University, in College Station Texas. While attending A&M he earned his Bachelor degree in Agricultural Engineering. Not only did he earn a degree, but he also became a husband and father before he even graduated.

By the grace of God, while raising two teenage boys with his beautiful wife Melissa, Vernon started his own general contracting business and has been self-employed for the last 16 years.  Despite his hectic schedule, he is still very dedicated to continual spiritual growth in ministry. Vernon is a graduated from the TD Iglehart School of Ministry in 2022 and became an Ordained Minister in the Assemblies of God in the Spring of 2024.  He is now the Senior Pastor of New Life Fellowship and continues to advance the Kingdom of God in his home, community, and church.   This includes his duties as a member of the Ministerial Alliance of Del Norte,  Reunite marriage ministry, and Rugged Peak Ministries outdoor adventure ministry.
